You Are Worth Your Own Time — Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

This babe’s session was such a blast, and her whole vibe really aligned with what I value as a person and as a photographer. She’s a busy mom of two, and booked a session just for herself. She didn’t want to invest a ton in lingerie she’ll never wear, and really wanted to capture herself as she usually is every day with her hair in a braid. She did her normal morning routine the day of her session, brought some of her favorite pieces that were already in her closet, and walked up the steps into the old studio with her hair in a braided low bun, just like usual.

She looked effortlessly beautiful.

Her session was so easy, laid-back, and fun. She came in fully trusting me, and let me work my magic. She didn’t have any must-have photos or poses, and really came with an open mind. It was so affirming to have a client who completely trusted me as a professional from start to finish.

We unpacked her bag and looked at her outfits while we chatted about her day, and decided together which pieces we would pair with what, and in what order we would shoot them in. She was a little nervous to be too revealing, but ended up deciding to do some photos in a two piece set at the very end of her session, and was really glad she did. Her final photos are the perfect example that you don’t have to bring lingerie that’s super sexy and go full glam in order to look beautiful and take home gorgeous photos. This is why I’m such a huge proponent of making choices that align with your unique vision for your session.

This is also why I don’t include hair and makeup services in your session fee! I have a few trusted beauty pros that I can refer you to if you want to go the extra mile, but for my clients who want to look like they do every day, who want to capture who they are in this moment and have these photos to look back on in 40 years and remember how they did their makeup and their hair… I want that for them too. I encourage you to do whatever you want to do for your session because these photos are yours. I don’t take photos to post on Instagram, I take photos for you.

The photos we captured during her session are entirely her, which is what I love most about them.

These photos show a woman, a mom, a wife just being and existing in a space created for her. One thing I’m really proud of in my studio is the way I hold space for people who trust me to capture them, and allow them the space to just exist exactly as they are with no pressure to be something they’re not. It’s a magical place in between existing with no expectations and having the freedom to embody everything you want to become.

The best part of her session for me? That came when I asked her after everything was said and done what she felt like she got out of her session. This is something I ask every client I have because everyone books for a different reason, and I always wonder what they feel like they took away from the experience. Her answer was absolutely priceless.

She said, “My oldest daughter is 3, and for three years I have felt like a mom and only a mom. It was exhilarating to, for a while, just be me outside of the kids. I think I needed something to remind me that I was a person before children and I need to make a habit of occasionally taking time for myself. I can’t thank you enough for making me feel worth my own time. That is definitely the number one thing I’ve carried with me since our session.

Y’all when I say I cried, I mean I CRIED. That bit of feedback about how her session impacted her was so meaningful to me, and it’s things like that that let me know that what I’m doing really matters.

Boudoir allows people to come home to themselves. It allows them to see themselves in a way that they haven’t been able to.

I am absolutely honored to be able to document so many people throughout so many different stages of life in my studio. It’s the privilege of a lifetime to be trusted with the honor of capturing you. You can see more of her gorgeous photos and read more of her unfiltered thoughts about her session below; it’s so so worth it.

Why did you choose to invest in a boudoir session with Eleanor Elaine?

[A friend] made a post about Ellie that really spoke to me. All the things she said about her experience [in the studio] sounded exactly like what I was looking for.

How did you feel before your session, and what did you do to prepare?

I was nervous in the best way(: I was very certain I wanted to look exactly like myself during my session, so as far as preparations went I just did my usual routine things that I would everyday. Braided hair and clothes I wear regularly. Lingerie has rarely been something I invested in and I didn’t want to spend $$$ on something I wouldn’t wear again. Ellie was so supportive of every “staying true to what I am on the day-to-day” idea I had.

What were the biggest questions you had before your session?

I wish I had something to put in this box but Ellie’s brochures were so broken down and detailed that any question that might pop into my brain was answered every time I went back through in the information she gave me. I am a crazy stressor when it comes to anything unknown, but before my session I was so well prepared and informed on exactly what would be happening.

How did Eleanor make you feel throughout the process?

When we were shooting Ellie was incredible. I left everything up to her, I really did not have anything or shot I was adamant about having, which before the session I worried that would take away from what I got out of my experience. But Ellie was so ready and had so many ideas which really put me at ease. She was wonderful was guiding me into a pose. Even when there were shots that I thought would come out awkward, it’s like she could sense my stress and was so quick to turn around her camera and give me the reassurance I needed. I have never been so comfortable while being photographed.

How has the boudoir experience with Eleanor Elaine impacted you?

Ellie restored confidence I haven’t had in years. (I’ve gone shopping twice since my session) 😂😂 shopping used to just be a cycle of me trying on clothes and not liking them when really I didn’t like what the person wearing them looked like. Mirrors don’t put me in a bad mood like they used to. Ellie really got me out of a rut I didn’t realize I was so deep in.

What would you say to someone who's unsure about doing a session?

TRUST ELLIE. I think the only thing that would’ve made my session better would be getting rid of the initial worry that a shot wouldn’t look right. When I book with Ellie again I will not even allow that to be a thought. She knows what she’s doing and I realize that now. She is phenomenal and if I can pass on any advice it would absolutely be to trust her vision. <3
