Self-Love is a Marathon, Not a Sprint — Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer
When we think about self-love, and begin working towards having more of it in our lives, it can sometimes seem daunting and leave us wishing there was a quick and easy way to fast track to the end.
But we can't sprint your way to the finish line and win this race. This is about the long game. This journey isn't linear; there are ups and downs and times when you take one step forward just to take two steps back. It all fluctuates, and that's okay. To be honest with you, I’m not sure it would be half as worthwhile if we could just snap our fingers and reach the end and live happily ever after. The journey is the part that matters, the part that shapes you into who you become because of this work.
Getting to the end isn’t the goal here, because there is no end. The only thing any of us can ever be sure of is that things will change, and with change comes new triumphs and new struggles.
Self-love isn't something you can find a quick fix for or shortcut your way to the end of.
It’s a practice, and something that happens inside yourself over the course of your life. We’re all always learning and growing, and figuring out what we need from ourselves every day. And as the seasons of our life change and our needs change along with them, it’s an endless discovery of ourselves. This journey is a long and winding one, and one that isn't easy by any means. It takes time and it takes effort, but it's so so worth it.
I had the honor and privilege of photographing this babe at my old studio in Bloomington. I love it when clients turn into friends, and spending time with her was such a blast. Before boudoir sessions, I always keep in touch through email, and usually have a short consult call with clients a month or so before their session to check in, talk about the details of their sessions like what to wear and what to bring, and answer any questions that have popped up. I love this time getting to know each other a little bit before your session; I can’t imagine it would be super comfy to walk into a new place and undress in front of a stranger, so this part of the process is super important to me.
She was so relaxed, and such a natural in front of the camera! She brought a mixture of outfits ranging from casual, everyday looks to sultry, steamy options and it was so much fun capturing all sides of her personality. She decided to go natural with her hair and makeup, which is something I adore. You know I love a full glam session as much as the next gal, but something about showing up completely yourself exactly as you are really gets me good. These photos are so her.
And after reading the feedback she gave me about her session… I was sat at my desk with misty eyes. Words of affirmation is my number one love language, so when I get feedback like hers, it really warms my heart and is so affirming that I’m in the right place. So please, take a look at her gorgeous photos, and read through what she had to say about her boudoir experience!
Why did you choose to invest in a boudoir session with Eleanor Elaine?
College is one of the most physically and mentally demanding periods of life. Having put myself through so much, I wanted a day to celebrate the woman I am becoming. I was so excited leading up to the session and that feeling has never left now that I have beautiful picture memories in hand.
How did you feel before your session, and what did you do to prepare?
I thought about the session a lot but didn’t have a lot of extra money to treat myself before the session. So honestly, I didn’t do much to prepare. I washed my hair and got a good night’s sleep. Decided to go all natural without makeup. Best decision I could have made for myself.
What were the biggest questions you had before your session?
I wanted to know what the review process would look like and how many photos I would get to choose from. News flash: too many!!
How did Eleanor make you feel throughout the process?
Ellie made the process seamless. Her social media posts made me feel confident, I shared a Pinterest board with ideas, we had a short conversation before, I texted her while packing, and the shoot was so fun!! I opted for more revealing pictures with sheets and implied nude and felt gorgeous while taking those shots.
What do you feel like you got out of your boudoir session?
Confidence. I wrote a caption for one of pictures that I’ll be posting soon. “ Self confidence is your super power. Once you start believing in yourself, magic happens💫 You see your worth. You shift your energy. You care for yourself as much as you care for others. You attract new people and opportunities. But first you have to realize...that finding happiness, starting a new chapter, reaching for those wild, crazy dreams...all start with Y O U⭐️”
How has the boudoir experience with Eleanor Elaine impacted you?
I am a badass. I am caring for myself. I am confident. I will be able to reflect on how my body changes and weathers life’s best and most challenging moments.
What would you say to someone who's unsure about doing a session?
Whether you’ve been considering a boudoir session for 1 day or 1 year, seize the day and book a session. You will capture memories for a lifetime because Eleanor takes care of all of her clients. I 1000% guarantee Eleanor will exceed your expectations. 💕
