3 Things for the Perfect Boudoir Session — Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

This session is one I look back on so fondly, and I still adore the photos we created this day. This babe was one of the first clients I had that didn’t know before she booked her session. It took a hot minute after I started my business to start getting clients who I wasn’t already acquainted with at the least. She came into her session truly trusting me and my vision, and gave me a lot of artistic control during her session, which made it so fun.

The first half of this session was in the old studio in Bloomington, and it was an absolute dream. She was the most fun to work with; we rocked and rolled through our first hour of shooting while she nailed every pose we tried. In between singing along with Lizzo, giggling through the poses, and talking all about her stunning elopement and big hair chop after getting married, we captured some gorgeous photos that are so completely HER. Her session goes to show that there are just three things that you need to make your boudoir session perfect.

The only things you need to have a perfect boudoir session are confidence, comfortability, and trust.

She read all the guides I sent her thoroughly, prepared outfits that made her feel like a badass, and asked questions when she had them. I always say that being comfortable and confident shines through in your photos, and this session was the best example of that. Regardless of your picture perfect wardrobe, hair and makeup, exfoliated skin, how much sleep you got, and how hydrated you are… feeling comfortable and letting yourself feel confident makes the most difference.

Everyone gets nervous before their session, even me! It’s important to me to keep open communication so that you feel comfortable asking questions and feel at ease with how the day’s going to go. I always suggest bringing outfits that make you feel your best, because let’s be honest: you can rock anything, and it’s important that you feel like your baddest self so you don’t look uncomfy in your photos. If your lingerie digs into your skin or the fabric of your outfits are itchy, you aren’t gonna be feeling great and that’ll translate on camera, too.

And lastly, you have to trust me. Trust that I know what I’m doing, that I will capture you as you are with honesty and care, and that I’ve got your back and will treat you like a friend, because you are.

I’m here to support and encourage you, and of course, capture the best photos of you ever.

After we wrapped our session in the studio, we took a break and grabbed lunch together before taking a short hike to photograph the second part of her session outdoors. She wanted the full studio session experience and then upgraded with an outdoor addition, and it was nothing short of amazing. After she got her photos back, I asked her a bunch of questions about her experience. She had so many good things to say, and her advice is solid gold. Keep scrolling for some of my favorite photos from her studio session! (Her outdoor photos will be in a later blog with more of my outdoor boudoir work!)
