Is a Boudoir Session Worth it? — Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

Though my commute to the new studio in downtown Evansville is only 15 minutes, I kept a lot of the routines that I developed when my commute was 2 hours to the old studio in Bloomington. I still get to the studio early to clean, make the bed with clean linens, do some lighting tests, and make sure the space is perfect for the babe who’s about to walk through my door. (And probably film some reels, if I’m being really real, lol) Once I get everything ready, I just wait for a knock on the door!

This particular Saturday though, I was waiting for two knocks on the door because I was shooting the first of the friendship sessions I hosted in June of 2019! I was so pumped for this session; I had been friends with this babe for a while, and had photographed some fun portraits of her in the Jordan Greenhouse, and then captured her graduation portraits when she finished her undergrad at IU!

I love that I get to take photos of this babe over and over, she’s a blast to work with and is so so much fun. Hanging out with her is just the best. After her boudoir session, I asked her some questions about her experience. Every client’s feedback is super important to me, but after photographing her a few times before, I was really eager to hear what she thought about the boudoir experience.

She did this session purely for herself, and told me a lot about her self love journey and how this session was the next step for her.

I loved hearing that every time she needs a reminder that she’s beautiful and enough, she looks at these photos. Ugh, I could cry thinking about it. Thinking that my job helps my clients long after their sessions are over really affirms that what I’m doing matters. Read on to hear more from her about why a boudoir session is worth the investment in yourself, and, as always, to see some of her gorgeous photos.

Why did you choose to invest in a boudoir session?

I chose to invest in a boudoir session definitely for myself. I felt like this past year has been a lot of “self” work and finding my confidence and accepting myself and my body. And so I felt like a boudoir session would be the next step in that self acceptance journey.

Why did you choose Eleanor Elaine Photography for your session?

I had done photo shoots with Ellie before and they were the best and really helped to see myself in a new light. I love doing shoots with Ellie because she always makes me feel comfortable and she helps you be your best self and feel beautiful and confident. It’s always the best time, and I feel so refreshed after the sessions and more “whole” and happy with myself. She also knows all the best and cutest spots, has the best playlists and encouraging words, and knows how to make the session the best time you’ll have.

How did you feel before your session, and what did you do to prepare?

Before the session I was a bit anxious just because I had never done something like this before, so I read Ellie’s blog about it, looked at the Insta page for inspiration and Pinterest as well. I prepped all my outfits before and also got my hair done to really feel like my best self :)

What were you most nervous about before your session?

I was most nervous about my body; it had been a rough summer and I definitely felt like it showed all over my body, so I was nervous about how it would look and feel in the pictures. But it turned out so well, and I was really happy with the results.

How did you feel during your session?

I felt super comfortable; we had such a good group of girls hanging out that day, it was the best. Great conversations and encouraging support! I really felt at ease and good with how everything was going! And it was so much fun!!

What was your favorite outfit, and why?

I loved my Calvin Klein look and also my black bodysuit look! It looked really cute and I think was really “me”.

How did you feel after your session?

I felt super good, and so happy with the pictures! Every time I need to remind myself I am beautiful and “enough”, I look at those pictures :) Ellie really knows how to bring out the best in you.

How did you feel when you received your gallery and saw your images?

I was so excited and also a bit nervous, but as soon as I saw them I was so happy. They turned out beautifully! And I am so thankful and glad I did this photoshoot.

Would you recommend a boudoir session to other women?

Yes absolutely! Do it for yourself or for someone you love that makes you feel like the best. But mostly for yourself. I think it’s a great experience and it helps you boost and work on your confidence and self.

What would you say to someone who's unsure about doing a session?

Look at inspiration pics, talk to Ellie about it, she will definitely help you and give you tips and you’ll feel so great during and even more amazing afterwards. Go for it! You will not regret it!
