Do it For Your Damn Self — Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

Why do you want to schedule a boudoir session?”

This is one of my favorite questions to ask new clients because everyone’s answers are so different. I love hearing the why behind babes booking their sessions because I know firsthand that investing in yourself can sometimes feel like a hard thing to do, like you need to find a reason to do it. In my experience, women especially can make a million excuses as to why we put off doing something nice for ourselves, but so easily and freely give to everyone else in our lives.

It’s so powerful to me to hear that someone has scheduled a session with me just because they want to. No occasion, no reason — just because it seemed like a fun new experience and they want to have gorgeous photos of themselves at whatever stage of life they’re at right now. How empowering is that?

In the words of those clients, they booked a session to help them feel confident in themselves and their body, to help them love the skin they’re in, and just because it was an opportunity for them to do something for themselves. I heard from one babe that she hadn’t done something for herself in a while. If you’re reading this and looking for a reason to do something for yourself — this is me giving you a reason. Whether it’s a boudoir session, a long bath after work, or a bouquet of flowers from your next grocery run. That little something nice for yourself has the potential to pick up your mood long after the bubbles have drained out of the bath.

Today I want us to rewrite the script about doing nice things for ourselves.

Speaking for myself, I never hesitate to do something nice for someone I love. I pick up a tea latte for my bff on my way to hang out because I know she loves them. I write thank you notes to anyone who lends a helping hand because written words of appreciation matter. I spend quality time with my nan because I know how much it means to her. But why don’t I make it a priority to do these things for myself? I should prioritize giving myself gifts, writing affirming words to myself, and spending quality time with myself. I wholeheartedly believe that my relationship with myself is the most important one in my life.

I think we should all do more for ourselves for the hell of it. Without reasons or excuses.

A common misconception about boudoir is that sessions are only for women who want to be sexy for their significant others, or that you have to have a reason to book a session. My experience both behind the camera with my clients showing up for themselves should show you that boudoir is such a huge confidence booster if you allow it to be. My clients have gained so much appreciation and love for themselves during this experience, and I want that for you too.

One recent client of mine felt a little nervous going into her session, but after getting her photos back and having time to reflect on the experience, she said it was liberating AF. Nothing warms my heart quite like an already amazing person investing in herself, and allowing me the opportunity to be included on her self-love journey. What a freaking privilege that is.

You are worth all the good things in this world just because you exist. Do the thing for your damn self — no matter what that thing is for you. You are so so worth it.
