Summer Proposal at Restoration Hardware Indianapolis – Matt + Neveah

This surprise summer proposal at Restoration Hardware in Indianapolis was so beautiful (but that’s obvious)

Matt and Neveah are so perfect together, and getting to be a fly on the wall as he got down on one knee was such an honor. You don’t often get to be present for special moments like this if they aren’t happening to you! Matt’s sister Morganne is one of my best friends from college; she was one of my bridesmaids when I got married a few years ago! SO when she texted to tell me that Matt was planning on proposing and she needed my help orchestrating the surprise, you know I started packing my bags.

They decided on Restoration Hardware, which I had never been to before. Morganne and I got there a few hours before to scope out good spots for the proposal, keeping in mind that there was a slim chance of rain. (Luckily, the rain held out until after dinner and we got a gorgeous evening!) We sent photos of us down on one knee in like five different spots around the grounds to the planning committee–including myself, Matt, Morganne, their sister Marleigh, and Neveah’s sister Hope. We decided this spot in the courtyard was the one. It was fairly private, featured stunning landscaping and some of the estate’s architecture, and I knew the sun would be peeking beautifully through the trees around sunset.

The girls told Neveah that they were going to a surprise dinner at Restoration Hardware for Matt’s sister’s birthday.

We got Matt in place just ten minutes before Neveah arrived. It felt a little James Bond, trying to make sure we weren’t able to be spotted through the windows as she rounded the corner. I ducked behind some hydrangea bushes as Matt waited in an alcove of topiaries. I gave him a crash course on proposing–when to get down on one knee, reminders about his posture, and encouragement that she was going to be incredibly surprised in the best way and there was nothing he could do to mess it up.

Neveah walked around the corner and we were immediately met with a chorus of “What’s happening? What are you doing? What’s going on?” as she smiled from ear to ear and covered her face in shock.

From behind the bushes, I could see the immediate relief on Matt’s face as his soon-to-be fiancée walked towards him and he embraced her in a hug. Once she was standing in front of him, it seemed like those nerves melted away.

He got down on one knee, popped the question, and of course–she said yes!!

a man is down on one knee proposing to his girlfriend, who stands next to him in a long dress holding a bouquet of flowers and smiling ear to ear. He's placing the engagement ring on her left ring finger because she just said yes!

She couldn’t stop looking at the ring, which is so beautiful and timeless.

The proposal was sweet and intimate, just what they wanted, and we got to spend a little time afterwards in the courtyard taking some photos to celebrate their new engagement before heading off to meet the rest of their families for dinner! Neveah couldn’t stop looking at her ring, and kept gushing over how beautiful it was, how surprised she was, and how happy she felt. These are the moments that go by so quickly and in a blur, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to capture this day for them to look back on.

I hear so often that getting engaged is such a huge moment that the new fiancés often can’t remember exactly what happened, only that it did. (I know that’s true for me! I think I blacked out when my husband proposed; I have no idea what he said–only that I said yes, lol!) So having photos like these to keep and look back on are so special. It’s truly an honor to document these big life moments!

Congratulations Matt and Neveah!! I hope you enjoy every minute of being engaged and I’m wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness together as you embark on this next chapter of your lives.

A special shoutout goes to Matt and Neveah’s sisters for helping him plan and execute the whole operation!
