How to Celebrate Yourself This Valentine’s Day – Because You’re Worth It

No matter where you are in life—single, happily in a relationship, or somewhere in between—one thing is certain: the relationship you have with yourself is the foundation for everything else. I’m a firm believer that empowerment comes from within, and self-love isn’t just a buzzword to be thrown on bubble baths and mani pedis; it’s a life-changing mindset.

This isn’t about anyone else. It’s about you—your happiness, your growth, and your power. But I know from experience that sometimes it can feel daunting. You want to do things for yourself but you don’t know where to start. Let’s talk about how to nurture that connection with yourself through self-care, confidence-building actions, and bold acts of self-celebration.

Self-Care: Your Personal Power Move

Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. Sometimes it looks like giving yourself a soft place to land and having those moments of indulgence, and sometimes it’s about doing the things to care for yourself that you reallyyyy don’t want to do, but know it’s for your best good. (brb finally making that dentist appointment I’ve been putting off)

Taking yourself out on a date can feel really intimidating the first time you do it. I took myself out for lunch a few years ago, and for the first time decided not to eat it in my car where I feel comfy and safe, but actually sit inside and eat by myself. It felt SO hard to do. Like everyone was looking at me and judging me for being alone. (I know that’s not true, but our brains can make up really wild stories.) But I took my book in, ordered my poke bowl, and made myself sit for 10 minutes and just be by myself for lunch. After I was finished, I got in my car and realized that it’s actually not a big deal at all. I felt kinda silly for how much I had built it up in my head.

Not only is taking yourself out for a date self care, but it can be one of those things that stretches your comfort zone too.

A few of my personal faves for spending time with myself are spending time with my creative hobbies–whether that’s junk journaling or scrapbooking, embroidery, watercolor painting, or digital art–it feels really good to spend that time with myself fueling my creativity. I also love to read (physical books or e-books from the library!) and journal at least a little bit almost every day. Expressing yourself is so important!

The most important thing? Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine. Here are some ideas to add into your self-care routine when you need a change of pace:

  • Go for a coffee, bubble tea, or your drink of choice and savor every sip

  • Get some fresh air and move your body in a way that feels good to you

  • Have a spa night at home with a face mask and a bubble bath, and let yourself soak up those little moments

  • Create a vision board for the you that you wanna become either with magazines and glue or digitally on Pinterest or Canva

Confidence: The Glow That Starts Within

Confidence isn’t about having all the answers or never doubting yourself. It’s about believing in your worth, even when life feels messy. It’s not something that happens overnight and it’s not always increasing. It ebbs and flows, and with practice, your self-confidence gets stronger and more unshakable.

Working on my self-confidence in my 20’s has changed my life. I’m a recovering perfectionist, and have a history as a people pleaser. I used to want everyone to be happy, even to my detriment. I really struggled with feeling good enough, and it’s taken a lot of hard inner work to get to where I am today. I’m still not the most confident every minute of every day, but I’ve made a lot of progress.

One small action that helped change my mindset is daily affirmations. I know, I know. They can be a little hokey, but combatting a negative inner voice with positivity can really help change the way you talk to yourself. I have a widget on my phone that updates with a new affirmation a few times a day and I love it!

Another thing that has helped me become more confident in myself is celebrating my wins. Big or small, every step forward is worth celebrating and your accomplishments deserve recognition–even if it’s just from yourself! But it helps to have a support system of friends or family that you can share those accomplishments with too, and get that validation from people you trust and love too.

Finally, setting boundaries has helped me protect my peace and strengthen my voice. I need boundaries and structure for myself to hold myself accountable to promises I make to myself. (It’s too easy for me to let myself off the hook; I’m really working on that!) I try really hard to say yes to what fills my cup and say no to things I don’t have the capacity for, and I have to tune in and be really honest with myself when I’m making choices.

Boudoir is the ultimate celebration of you.

Imagine an experience that’s not about how others see you but about how you see yourself. A boudoir session is exactly that: an intimate, empowering celebration of everything that makes up who you are.

Boudoir isn’t reserved for a specific body type, relationship status, or milestone. It’s for anyone who wants to feel seen, celebrated, and powerful. The process of stepping in front of the camera, embracing vulnerability, and seeing yourself in a new light can be transformative. And when you hold those photos in your hands, you’re not just looking at your physical self—you’re seeing the empowered, radiant person you truly are.

Empowerment isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about loving yourself as you are while continuing to grow. You are deserving of love, confidence, and celebration–starting from within.
