Gratitude for Growth — Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

When I photographed this session in the beginning of 2019, I was right in the middle of closing one chapter and beginning to open the next.

I had completed my Bachelor’s degree and officially launched my business just days before shooting this session. This wasn’t the first boudoir session I had photographed, but it was one of the first that I had on my schedule as a business owner and not just a girl with a camera.

Looking back now as I’m about to begin my third year in business, I can see that when I first started on my own, I was trying too hard to be someone that I’m not. I was trying to be perfect, to appear to have all my shit together, and I was up to my ears in imposter syndrome. So much so that I was subconsciously trying to convince potential clients that my work was worth something after undercharging and feeling like a fauxtographer for so long. I thought so often about what I could do to make hiring me seem so valuable - and now I’m realizing how unnecessary that was.

I know now that having the opportunity to work with me is valuable in and of itself. I don’t have to offer everything under the sun in order to be worth something. I see the value now in showing up fully and unapologetically, creating space for you to feel empowered and truly celebrated by holding space for you.

All of that - the high quality boudoir experience that I offer - is truly an investment in yourself. And that, is priceless.

I don’t feel like I have to hide behind Pinterest quotes or boring descriptions of how my sessions went anymore. I feel so much more free now feeling confident in my voice, in my expertise, and in my craft. That freedom comes from not feeling like I have to prove myself anymore. I know the value that I provide, and I know that each and every person who chooses to work with me respects the work that I do and values it the same way that I do.

That, in and of itself, makes this job feel like home. xo
