The Easiest Style Guide – Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

The first question that a lot of my clients ask right after booking their session is — “okay Ellie, but what am I going to wear?!

When you’re cruising Pinterest desperate for an outfit to hop off the page and shout at you that it’s the one, it’s easy to get sucked into the common myths that boudoir has to be sexy with a capital S, that you have to bring lingerie and garter belts with thigh high stockings and all the bells and whistles in order to have the most perfect session of your dreams.

Now, you know that I’m a staunch supporter of doing all the nice things for yourself, and sometimes it can feel like we need an excuse to do those nice things. If booking a boudoir session is the perfect reason for you to freshen up your hair, treat yourself to a mani/pedi, or splurge on some new outfits, then please do! But trust that you don’t have to invest in a whole new wardrobe to look stunning in your photos.

If you’re a lazy girl like me, let me help you ease all of the q’s about what to wear with the easiest style guide ever.

a bodysuit

Whether they’re lacy, mesh, or soft cotton, bodysuits are my personal fave no matter which side of the camera I’m on! There are so many different varieties, and I’d be willing to bet your next Starbucks drink that you already have one you love in your closet. They offer a little more coverage while still being super sexy, and if you bring one, we’ll likely start the session in it! But you wanna know the best part of bringing a bodysuit? Once your session is over, you can slip on some pants and be on your way to lunch!

a two piece set

This is just a classic. Whether actual lingerie or your most loved Calvins, this is a staple in most sessions and lends itself well to capturing variety in your photos! Two piece sets are easily paired with button down shirts, graphic tees, or cardigans if you want to bring a few extra pieces with you. You can choose sets that are strappy and thin or have a more laid back vibe; there are so many options to choose from based on what really reflects you.

your birthday suit

This one’s the epitome of easy; it doesn’t require you to bring anything but your cute self! Forget the clothes, we can use the sheets – or nothing at all if full nudes are your style! This lends itself well to classy photos that showcase your figure and celebrate you, which is exactly what my goals are for each session. I’ve never had a client regret capturing some photos that are tastefully in the nude. Or if you’re more comfortable, bring a thong or g-string that’s close to your skin tone for the same vibe!
