Cultivating Crop Top Confidence – Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer
How important is it to you to do things for yourself that make you feel confident? Things that remind you of all the best parts of yourself?
Every once in a while while I’m doing something like dishes or laundry or vacuuming I have a moment of self awareness that this is my life. The tasks just keep coming and little by little they turn into a routine, and I find myself forgetting pieces of myself temporarily, which is why I think it’s super important to build confidence-boosting activities into our routines and turn those things into rituals that can help remind us of all the best pieces of ourselves amongst the never ending to-do lists.
Whether it’s wearing a certain type of makeup that makes you feel more like yourself (a winged eyeliner does it for me!), making yourself a latte at home to spend a little extra time on yourself, a certain piece of clothing that makes you feel ready to conquer the world, or a practice like yoga that calls your attention to your strength – whatever it is for you, I think we all need those regular reminders of how incredible we are.
Because confidence isn’t something that just appears one day out of the blue
Confidence is cultivated and grown over time, developed with practice and stretching yourself and your comfort zone little by little. It’s like that first time you put on a fresh pair of denim – at first, it may be a little tight but after a day or two of wear it starts to break in. And after a few weeks, it feels like home base. Just like with a new pair of jeans, your confidence will stretch and grow over time as you push yourself out of your comfort zone. I think one of the best ways to find your confidence is to step into it, even if it’s a little nerve-wracking at first.
I hear from clients a lot that part of their practice to grow their confidence is getting in front of the camera for a boudoir session, and it's one of mine too! But feeling confident in front of the camera doesn't come easily to most people. Getting your photo taken can come with stress, nervous butterflies, and lots of questions.
I've found that some things that help people feel more comfy and confident in front of the camera are:
⭐️ choosing a photographer who you vibe with, who feels like they could be your friend
⭐️ wearing outfits that you feel good in
⭐️ being open to the experience and trusting your photographer
And whatever you need to do to get to a place of feeling more relaxed and ready for your session, I'm here for it! It's super important to me that my clients feel supported from start to finish.
What do you do to develop your confidence?
This mama came into the studio for a mini session, and left with newfound confidence! You can see more of her stunning photos and read more about her experience in her own words below!
Out of everyone you could have chosen, why were you drawn to *me* to capture your boudoir session?
Absolutely rave reviews from everyone I know that's done a shoot with you in the past. Your sense of humor, your talent, and the composition and tone of your photos. I also love that every shoot is unique to that individual, unlike some other photogs I've seen.
What were the biggest questions you had before your session?
What to wear/makeup, etc.
And these questions are all answered in the welcome packet that you’ll receive upon booking, as well as during your consult call that’s included with every session! During that call, we’ll talk through the vibe you’re looking for, and I’ll help you with any outfit questions you have and offer personalized suggestions that fit YOU. <3 -el
How did Ellie make you feel throughout the process?
I loved my session. You made me feel incredibly calm and confident, and that is typically the exact opposite of how I feel. I was a change in the bathroom stall for gym class kinda girl. And honestly, after our shoot and my new haircut, I've gained this self confidence that feels so comfortable. I'm a crop top mom now. Who is she?!
What is one thing I can do better next time?
I honestly can't think of a thing
Was the experience worth the financial investment that you made?
10 fold
What would you say to a friend who's on the fence about doing a session with me?
"You can't understand how amazing you'll feel until you just get in there and own your shit"
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Thank you a million times over
