3 Things You Need at Your Boudoir Session – Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

As a boudoir photographer myself, I’ve had quite a few sessions of my own over the years! I know that boudoir, though super fun, can be a little uncomfy if it isn’t something you’re used to. The first time I had a boudoir session of my own, I wasn’t prepared at all. I didn’t know what to expect from being photographed like that – the last time I had professional photos taken was during my aunt’s wedding! For any session, but especially boudoir, preparing can feel a bit overwhelming even if you know exactly what to do. Of course we think about what we’re going to wear and bring, how we’ll do our hair and makeup, things like that that are glaringly obvious, but what about those little things?

When you have a girls night, there are those things that you throw in your bag that might make your life happier later on. Lip balm, gum, some cash, maybe a tampon... those things that you have rolling around that you might not need, but you’ll be so happy to have when it’s 2am and you just can’t stand having dry lips for one more minute. You know the feeling! This is why I have a basket of essentials at the studio that you’re welcome to use anytime you need them during your session. I have things in there like dry shampoo, lotion, and individual makeup wipes!

Whether absolutely necessary or just a nice addition, there’s a handful of those not-so-glamorous things that you’ll want to bring that aren’t always at the top of mind when preparing, but you’ll be so happy you brought them!

  1. Bottle of water

I don’t currently keep refreshments or snacks in the studio, so make sure to bring a water for yourself (and a small snack if you’d like!) to ensure you’re fully hydrated throughout your session. I’m serious when I say that boudoir is a workout for the both of us, and it’s so so important that you’re feeling good throughout your session. Those days when I forget my water, I tend to chug a Gatorade after sessions. Lol no shame!

  2. Makeup bag

If you’re wearing makeup, please bring your essentials with you! If your lipstick smudges or your eyes are watery, we want to make sure we can touch up your makeup during your session! Concealer, setting powder or blotting sheets, and the lippie that you’re wearing are the must-haves, but you know I don’t really believe that less is more.

  3. Your well-rested self

The most important thing to bring is your well-rested self. Hangovers are no fun, so try not to party to hard the night before and make sure to get a full night’s rest. Feeling like your best self and having enough energy is crucial! Give yourself enough time in the morning to not feel rushed, nourish yourself in the morning, stretch before you arrive, and listen to your fav tunes on the way over to the studio. Your session is all about you, and it’s the most important that you feel amazing throughout the whole day!
