What if I Hate My Boudoir Photos? – Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer
I talk to so many people who really want to book a session—but there’s something stopping them from making the leap.
Sometimes it’s the financial investment and the guilt that comes with doing something just for yourself. Sometimes it’s body image stuff, or fear of not liking how they look in the photos. There’s often a worry they’ll feel too in their head during the shoot, or that they’ll be uncomfortable being seen in such a vulnerable way. The fear of being perceived is real.
“What if I regret investing in boudoir photos?”
“What if I feel awkward the whole time and it shows in the photos?”
“What if I get the photos back and pick myself apart?”
Honestly? I’ve felt those same fears before my own boudoir sessions, too.
You're not the first (or the last!) person to have a lil spiral like this before jumping the hurdle and booking. These fears are normal and valid. I deal with the same thought spiral before booking sessions of my own—so believe me when I say, I hear you and I completely get it.
From body image to the financial side of things, there’s a lot to factor into your decision. And I want to gently remind you: the choice is completely yours. I want you to feel empowered by this decision—even if it’s a little scary at first. But if you need time to sit with it, that’s totally okay too. I’m here for you either way.
I’ll be real with you: this usually isn’t the easiest thing to do. You have to get over your brain trying to talk you out of it and get out of your comfort zone. And I know that isn’t easy.
Almost every single client walks in nervous, and most have already thought of 10 excuses not to show up on their way to the studio. (Car broke down. Running a fever. Family emergency. Cat needs a bath.)
But once you sit down for hair and makeup and have a chance to chill and chat with me a bit, those nerves start to melt.
You want to feel confident in your boudoir photos, but how can you do that if you don’t know what to expect?
Let me help ease some of those fears! To start, we’ll begin your session in the outfits that make you feel the most comfy and confident. (No, I’m not gonna ask you to strip naked right away; that would be wild.) I’ll start you in some easy poses to warm up and get comfy with how I direct you and with the sound of the camera’s shutter.
I’ll guide you through the whole session—from posing, to what to do with your hands, to how to soften your face or ground into the moment. And yes, I’ll definitely be cracking jokes the whole time because I literally don’t know how to not be a goofball.
You won’t feel overly posed or frozen. You’ll feel supported.
And to help ease the “what if I hate the photos” fear, I’ll show you the back of my camera in between poses. Those moments are almost always met with an excited “omg wait, I love that one!!” And on the off chance that you want to redo something, try a different pose, or adjust how you’re standing, that’s no big deal. We’ll do it again! This is a collaboration, not a performance.
During your image reveal, I’ll show you around 100 of the best photos from your session. Most clients are shocked at how many they love—and how hard it is to choose their favorites. (Honestly, it’s the best kind of problem to have.)
You don’t have to show up confident, you just have to show up.
Having fear about a new experience doesn’t mean you’re not confident enough or that you aren’t ready. It means you’re human—which is exactly what we’re celebrating in the studio. You’re not silly or being melodramatic for feeling nervous. It’s hard to stretch outside your comfort zone! But if this keeps calling to you—if you keep thinking about it like that shirt you left in your online cart that sold out before you decided to finally click ‘purchase’—maybe this is your sign.
You don’t have to make a decision right now. Just take the first step by reaching out and say, “Hey, I might want to do this. Can you tell me more?” And when you’re ready to do the damn thing? I’ll be so honored to guide you through it. Because you’re worth it.
