Not Sure If Boudoir Is for You? Start With a Connection Call – Evansville Indiana Photographer

Why I schedule a call before every boudoir session–and what even is a Connection Call?

Before you step foot in my studio, I like to make time to chat one-on-one over the phone. I call these connection calls–and they’re exactly what they sound like. A chance for us to connect, see if we’re the right fit, and make sure you get answers to all your questions and feel confident moving forward before we make it official with a contract and invoice.

These calls are short and sweet; almost always 30 minutes or less. Sometimes they run longer if you’re the type of person who likes to chat or have lots of questions, but if you’re someone who knows what they want and doesn’t need much info, we can keep it quick. It’s all about what you need.

What happens on a Connection Call?

I’ll usually start by asking you to tell me the “sparknotes” version of your story: who you are, what you do, how your friends and family would describe you. I also wanna know why you’re interested in a boudoir session and if you’ve ever done something like this before. This helps me to know if you kind of know what to expect or if this is your first time! I’ll also ask how you found me (whether that’s from a Google search, social media, or a friend’s recommendation), and what you hope to take away from your session. That could be a specific product like an album, a certain number of photos, or a feeling you want to carry with you when you walk out the door.

From there, the floor is all yours and I’m an open book! You can ask me anything about the session experience, what you should wear (or not wear), how payment plans work, or anything else that might be on your mind. Nothing is off the table! And at the end, if you’re ready to move forward with booking your session, I’ll explain the next steps so it’s crystal clear.

Why these calls matter

Boudoir is an intimate experience, and I don’t ever want you walking into a session with me feeling like you’re meeting a stranger for the first time. These calls allow us to create a connection (see what I did there?), get to know each other a bit, and let you see that I’m the same person you’ve seen social media–no surprises here! You’ll get a sense of my personality, and vice versa, and you can decide whether working with me feels like a good fit for you.

Even though these calls are primarily for you, they’re just as important for me! They give me a chance to learn about you so when the day of your session arrives, I already have a feel for who you are and what matters most to you. I don’t want to go into a session with a stranger either! It makes the experience more personal and collaborative, more comfortable, and way less nerve-wracking for both of us.

What these calls aren’t

I know one of the biggest hesitations people have is that getting on the phone might feel like a sales pitch. Let me be clear: this is not that. There’s no pressure, no push to book, and if you know halfway through that it’s not the right fit, you’re welcome to cut the call short. I call these connection calls for a reason–it’s about making sure we connect and that we’re a good fit, not convincing you of something you’re not ready for.

At the end of the day, your experience in my studio is all about you. What you need and what you want out of it are my primary focuses. It’s super important to me that you feel confident before choosing to move forward, and these calls allow you to feel confident through gaining clarity about the experience and how I approach things.
