Embracing Your Natural Beauty – Evansville Indiana Boudoir Photographer

We chose to focus on her natural beauty with the mission to further embrace her body as it is. No excessive retouching or unrealistic standards here! When we were talking before we got started shooting, she was telling me that she's learning to embrace her curly hair (which I would like on my head too, please and thank you!!), her acne, and her body hair. I have a veryyy light hand when retouching, but she wanted to make sure I knew that I didn't have to edit out any acne spots.

She's in a season of embracing herself and celebrating her body, and I wanted to help her do that in the best way I know how.

So even though my retouching is usually very light and natural, I went even lighter on her photos (meaning I really didn't do much to them at all besides removing one bruise she had!) so that she could see her natural beauty in every single photo. When it came to the aesthetics, we opted for neutral colors and casual sets. She didn't know this before coming, but brown is my favorite color, so when she pulled out this brown Calvin Klein set, I think I had real life hearts in my eyes, lol! Keeping the vibe earthy and neutral helped create a cozy and comfortable environment where she felt at ease to express herself freely.

We wanted to make sure she looked and felt like herself from start to finish.

One thing that truly sets boudoir sessions with me apart is the focus put on a trauma-informed experience. I make it a point to create a brave and respectful space for anyone in front of my camera, understanding that past experiences can play a significant role in how we perceive our bodies. It was important for me to help her feel empowered while being conscious of her desires for her session and ensuring her comfort throughout the entire process. My goal was to capture her inner beauty and to photograph her feeling confident in herself and I think we did that!!

Embracing our bodies as they are is such a powerful act.

I believe in celebrating every body type, every scar, and every stretch mark because they are all part of our individual stories. And I can’t stress enough how amazing it is to witness someone truly embracing their natural beauty and feeling confident in their own skin. It's a reminder that we should all strive to embrace our natural beauty and know we are more than enough just as we are.
